This week we come to the final four verses of the letter to the Philippians. These verses are Paul’s final greeting and words to the church at Philippi. Far too often, when modern Christians read and discuss the endings of Paul’s letters we skip over these final greetings. However, today we will see that God’s entire Word has much to say about Himself and His Church (see 2 Tim 3:16)!
Paul cared deeply for all of the churches he wrote letters to for many reasons. They were his brothers and sisters in the faith, they were under his care, and most importantly, they represented his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
How the Church responds to Christ matters, because we are meant to glorify Him and represent Him to the world. Today we are going to look at three ways the entire Church should respond to Jesus: We should glorify God, we should be united, and we should continue in the grace of Jesus.
As we explore this text together, ask yourselves how we as a church can continue to grow in godliness after the image of Jesus. Further, give thanks to God for the ways that you have seen the Spirit at work in and through our church.
May Redeemer be a mirror (though an imperfect one) that points to Jesus. Amen!
