Happy Mothers’ Day! I have always considered this a day to celebrate the gift of those women in our lives who nurtured us in living. That certainly began for me with my Aunt Eva, who reared me, but also includes now, honoring my wife. As pastor, I also honor you: each and all of our women: young single ladies to older widows. This is a secular day on our calendar, yet it is a day that captures our attention and since it was born out of a Christian sentiment for honoring our mothers, it is a wonderful time to follow God’s commandment and do just that.
Today’s message is from Proverbs 31. But before you are tempted to “unplug” (because you have heard it all before or because you know that you will leave with a load full of guilt for not being that woman), let me assure you: this is a sermon for all season and for all genders. Especially, though it is a message of hope, of forgiveness, and of the deep, divine love of our Lord Jesus for women of all ages, all situations (married, never married, or once married) to know the deep healing ministry of our Savior for you. I hope you will join us in worshipping the loving Lord of all on this beautiful day, this Mother’s Day.
